A local café had “lots of fun” as it was taken over by filming for a Watford comedian’s sitcom.
The Village Cafe, in Abbots Langley High Street, became a film set on Thursday (June 1) as Big Boys shot a scene for its second series, due to be broadcast later this year.
Big Boys, which made its way onto our screens in May last year, is loosely based on the life of show creator and comedian Jack Rooke, who grew up in Rickmansworth, and his experiences in university.

The Watford Observer spoke to Ernesta and Aaron from the café after the dust settled.
Ernesta said: “It went really well to be honest. They were all very nice people.”
Filming was scheduled to take place inside the café between 3pm and 6pm, before a “walk and talk” scene was shot outside the café from 6.30pm to 8pm.
“I think it will show for about three minutes, but it took around four hours,” the café owner added.
“Everyone had lots of fun, we had quite a few people walking past and looking in.”
The show is set around 10 years ago and the café in the scene is apparently supposed to be in Margate, so the production brought along new decoration and menu to completely transform it.
