A Watford restaurant could be at risk after a chain announced it will close up to 35 branches.
The Restaurant Group, which owns Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, and Wagamama, announced the closures yesterday (March 8) but did not confirm which sites are set to shut.
Chiquito Watford, in Woodside Leisure Park, already permanently closed in 2020 and the future of the Frankie & Benny’s two doors down is now in doubt.

Fans of the town centre Wagamama can rest easy as the brand’s success means it is safe. Instead, some closed restaurants look set to become Wagamamas.

The Restaurant Group was already losing money in 2021 before yesterday confirming losses had jumped from £35.2 million to £86.8 million in 2022.
Despite this, Wagamama continues to be successful and looks set to become the group’s focus.
Frankie & Benny’s is focussed around Italian-American dishes such as pizzas and pastas while Chiquito is a Tex-Mex brand.
