A temporary café will open in Watford General Hospital today (January 19) ahead of two full cafés later in the year.
Peabodys Coffee - which has worked with the NHS for over 20 years in hospitals nationwide - confirmed the plans this week.
A takeaway café located at the main hospital entrance is due to open by the end of March, and a second with a larger seating area will open in the car park retail hub later this year.
In the meantime, a temporary site is due to open today (January 19).
It will be next to the outpatients waiting area and offering a reduced selection, including coffee, pastries and ciabattas.
Earlier this month health secretary Steve Barclay visited the hospital alongside Watford MP Dean Russell to see its virtual wards technology.
The "game-changing" innovation, set up to help handle Covid surges in 2020, was also spoken about in Parliament ahead of potentially being rolled out nationally.
