The Watford Observer is again delighted to team up with its friends at Watford Museum to look at some structures or objects from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated.
Today we look back at a structure that will bring back memories for plenty of readers.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “Many people will remember that there was a fountain in Charter Place, now where the new Atria shopping area is, and that if walking past or sitting nearby, having to look out for the spray when the wind blew!
“I believe the fountain was part of the original design when Charter Place opened in 1976. This central courtyard area was redeveloped a number of times and eventually the fountain was removed completely.”
Watford Museum is open Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
