Councillors met with singer turned campaigner Feargal Sharkey to discuss Hertfordshire's waterways, as their party threatened prison for water bosses.
Labour councillors Matt Turmaine and Stephen Cox discussed Hertfordshire’s waterways at Labour Party Conference, where the Undertones vocalist was guest speaker.
Mr Sharkey pushed for action to save Britain’s waterways, pointing to there being no rivers in the UK with a good environmental health rating from the Environment Agency.

Cllr Turmaine, who is also Labour Parliamentary candidate for Watford, welcomed his party’s pledge to introduce tougher sanctions, including jailtime, for company directors who deliberately mislead the public and investigators.
He added: “It is not just the disgusting discharges into the sea that you see on the television, there are the local ones too that don’t get national attention.”
