An Indian restaurant owner said he was "surprised" to be in the running for an award after providing hundreds of meals for charity.
The Prince of Bengal, in Langley Way, Watford, was nominated for Restaurant of the year – Hertfordshire, as part of the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards.
Manager Sanwar Ali said the award appeared to recognise the restaurant's charity work providing hundreds of meals for Peace Hospice Watford, One Vision, and many other causes.

But the restaurant had not focused on advertising this, as it was done out of “goodwill”, and so Mr Ali was shocked to see it get award attention.
He said: “We are happy that our good work has been recognised for an ARTA award.
“It came as a surprise to me and it's really nice to hear.”
