A popular Latin bar will be launching its first branch outside of London as it announces plans to open in Watford town centre.

Barrio, a food and drink venue that currently runs five bars in the capital, will be moving into the Bosleys building in The Parade.

Owners Nightcap have officially announced that the ground and first floor venue of around 7,825 square feet should open this year.

The operator has said that it will feature a “large” outside terrace area and it will be the second Barrio to open up since it acquired the brand last year.

Sarah Willingham, chief executive officer of Nightcap, said: "When we acquired Barrio Familia Group in November last year, we immediately highlighted the potential of the Barrio brand for growth and rollout both within and outside of London and I am delighted to see Barrio take its next step on that journey so soon after the announcement of its opening in Covent Garden, central London.

"Watford is a vibrant town with a limited night-time offering but a captivated audience.

“We are so excited to bring Barrio to the neighbourhood in response to the growing consumer demand for high quality hospitality offerings, without the added expense of travel into central London.

“Our new Barrio is ideally located in the centre of Watford and is a perfect fit for Barrio with its vibrant and colourful mix of Latino-inspired drinks, music and atmosphere. Who doesn't like margaritas and tacos?!"

Earlier this month the Watford Observer confirmed that an offer was accepted for the former Bosleys building since the pub closed in February.

Fleurets, which was letting the property at 107-115 The Parade, had the site listed for £120,000 per year, with terms available for up to 15 years.

After Bosleys shut, a spokesperson for the Stonegate Group said: “Our lease has come to an end and the building has been returned to our landlord.”
