An Afro Caribbean grocery shop was told that “major improvement” was necessary in a recent food hygiene inspection.

Django Grocey, based in St Albans Road, was visited by Watford Borough Council’s environmental health officers during the routine inspection on August 3.

It was rated 1/5, with all three areas inspected raising alarms.

Specifically, both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities required “improvement” while the management of food safety required “major improvement”.

The Watford Observer has been logging inspections on a monthly basis so that readers can stay up-to-date with which spots have been inspected.

Five is top of the scale, meaning the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law, and zero is at the bottom of the scale, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
