The most famous person from Watford has been revealed, according to a new interactive map, but the result may come as a surprise!

Mapbox researcher and geographer Topi Tjukanov developed the insightful map which reveals the birthplaces of the most 'notable people' around the world.

The data is based on a study published in June this year from researchers from the University of Paris. 

A person's significance was calculated based on information scraped from Wikipedia and Wikidata. 

The data accounts for a series of factors including the number of Wikipedia entries, their average length, the average number of views from 2015-18 as well as the total number of external links.

"The data contains a rank value and a notability "sum value" these are used to determine which names are shown and how big they are," Mr Tjukanov explained to users on Twitter.

Who is the most notable person in Watford?

The interactive map reveals that Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is the most notable person to come from Watford. 

The singer-songwriter, also known as Ginger Spice, is, of course, most known for being part of the 'Wannabe' girl group but has also a successful solo career.

Other recognisable names that made a splash on the map include Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon who was born in Bushey.

Le Bon has claimed huge fame alongside Duran Duran with hit songs including 'Girls on Film', 'Hungry Like a Wolf' and more. 

Just outside Watford towards North London, and continuing the theme of famous musicians is none other than Sir Elton John.

The iconic singer has huge fame, with massive songs including 'Rocketman','Tiny Dancer' and many more. 

There's even a film about the musician with the award-winning movie 'Rocketman.'
