A host of new businesses are cropping up in Watford and it seems more often than not, it’s the type of place to keep your tastebuds entertained.
The town has a wide range of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and bars to check out already but new places are opening all the time.
We’ve rounded up some of the latest venues we know will be opening hopefully sooner rather than later, as well as a couple that appear to be very much in the pipeline.
Tim Hortons
An arrival that has certainly excited lots of people living in our area.
The Canadian fast-food chain looks like it’s expanding pretty rapidly in the UK and has chosen Watford as one of its newest locations.
A drive-thru and restaurant will be opening where the Pizza Hut by the Dome Roundabout used to be.
The eatery will be serving up a range of savoury and sweet treats including burgers, wraps, sandwiches, doughnuts, coffee, and its trademarked TimBits.
Tim Hortons told us in May they’ll be opening in Watford in 2022 but we haven’t received an official launch date just yet.

The Beech House
A new addition in the heart of Watford town centre will be The Beech House restaurant and bar.
Opening on the corner of High Street and the atria Watford extension, the venue will host customers over two floors with indoor and outdoor seating.
The Beech House serves both food and drink, including meat, fish, pasta, pizza, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as coffee, cocktails, beer, and bubbly, bottomless brunches, and more, and provides a fresh option to the town centre.
Operator Oakman Inns & Restaurants has confirmed via its social media channels The Beech House will be opening in Watford in September, with a recruitment process ongoing.
Mad Squirrel
Another bar that we know will be opening soon in Mad Squirrel in Market Street.
Mad Squirrel is a craft beer taproom that brews its own beer for visitors to sit in and enjoy or to take-away.
The venue will feature 25 taps of its own beer and a range of guest beers, craft gins and spirits and will also serve tank beer.
Those behind the new bar were hoping to open much earlier this year but have experienced delays especially because of a water leak that occurred.
But the long-awaited opening date has now confirmed to be July 29.
The neon sign is up, the drip trays are in and the walls are painted!

Grounded Kitchen
A contemporary Korean eatery is on the cards for Watford in the form of Grounded Kitchen.
The chain recently secured permission from Watford Borough Council to put up its signs at the former MOD Pizza restaurant in the town centre.
There may still be some work to do before Grounded Kitchen is ready to open and we don’t have any opening date yet.
But if and when it does open, customers can expect made-to-order Nourish Bowls, SsamBaps and Korean Bao, with a focus on “healthy and balanced” meals.
Vegetarian and vegan dishes will also be available.
Treatz
This dessert parlour chain is looking to bring a shop to Watford High Street, moving inside the former iFix shop opposite Pizza Express.
The company specialises in tasty treats including which pancakes, waffles, sundaes, sweet and savoury crepes, milkshakes, coffee.
Treatz received a setback earlier this year when the council rejected its application for signage due to concerns about its size and appearance.
However, Treatz has since submitted new plans and is currently waiting to hear back from the council.

Bubbleology
Bubble Tea brand Bubbleology that crafts made to order tea-based beverages also wants to move to Watford town centre.
We know this because it has applied to put up signs at the 116 High Street shopfront, which is near the flyover.
Like Treatz, it is waiting to hear back from the council about whether it has permission to put up new signs.
Bubble tea is also known as boba and has adopted the name because of the chewy tapioca balls which are brewed into the milky or fruity tea mixture.
