Head to the beach
Close to Watford is the Ruislip Lido, which is only a 25-minute drive away.
While it’s not a seaside resort there is a beach that surrounds a 60-acre lake. You can’t swim in the lake but you can sunbathe until your heart’s content.
There is also a play area for children to be kept entertained.
If you want, you can head further afield for some seaside beaches. We’ve compiled a list here.
Beer garden
We have put together a list of Watford’s best beer gardens according to TripAdvisor.
The Round Bush pub on Roundbush Lane Aldenham, Watford WD25 8BG England was described by one reviewer as being a “classic village pub ! A warm welcome from the knowledgeable friendly staff.
"There's a wide selection of beers and ciders ( and they do a wonderful pimms !! ). We ate a few times recently in the large garden from a varied menu. Generous portions too!"
Central London
If you fancy heading into the capital this weekend, then one of the best spots to visit in the sunshine is the Southbank.
The river bank always has street performers and artists showcasing their work.
This summer there is also a food market outside the National Theatre for a second summer in a row.
Cassiobury Park Paddling Pools
A firm favourite for people living in Watford for families to attend. The Paddling pools will be perfect for children to enjoy over the weekend.
Remember, if want to go, you need to book a time slot.
Walks
Anyone looking to be a bit more active might want to try some walks. Here we have compiled a list of walks for those looking to do an easy or moderate walk.
Take lots of water to keep you refreshed, although some of the walks have pubs along the way.
