Living in Watford, we’re fortunate enough to have easy access to a variety of cuisines – but what are the best ranking ones?
We looked to TripAdvisor to see which eateries were ranked among the top 30 restaurants.
Whilst not all of them were in Watford itself, with some in Bushey or Radlett, it’s clear that there is a great selection to choose from. But does your favourite make the cut?
1. Nana’s
St Albans Road
This Lebanese restaurant with a shisha garden proved to be the most popular spot according to TripAdvisor.
Visitors are treated to delicious food with an authentic Lebanese-styled interior, and recent reviews show that people love “this little gem of a restaurant”.
2. Tarboush Lebanese & Mediterranean Cuisine
Market Street
If TripAdvisor is anything to go by, it seems that Watford may have a particular craving for Lebanese food as Tarboush is ranked second.
Reviews rave about how “you will not leave hungry” and the great atmosphere and food provided at the restaurant.
3. Las Iguanas
High Street
The popular chain restaurant has ranked third place in Watford, as customers seem to enjoy the Latin American dishes and extensive choice of cocktails.
4. Derwish Restaurant
St Albans Road
With similar dishes to the top two restaurants, people in Watford appear to love this Turkish restaurant.
It is said to have a “large selection of tasty food” and reviewers loved the “warm atmosphere”.
5. Indian Sizzler
Longspring
This restaurant offers a contemporary Indian cuisine and traditional curries in a spacious and stylish modern restaurant.
Many people expressed their love for the restaurant on TripAdvisor, with some calling it the “best curry ever”.
6. The Prince George
St Albans Road
A tasty selection of pub food can be found at The Prince George -which is among the top ten places to eat in Watford.
Reviewers say it has the “best roast in Watford” and a “refreshing ambiance”.
7. St James Restaurant
High Street, Bushey
This Bushey restaurant is among the highest-rated eateries near Watford.
It offers English gastronomy dining and is said to be a “great unique place” to eat.
8. The Authentic Thai Cuisine at The Nascot Arms
Stamford Road, Watford
The family-run pub is known for its fantastic authentic Thai soups, curries and noodle dishes and is the perfect place to grab a meal while enjoying a pint.
9. Zaza Bushey
High Street, Bushey
This small Italian chain is said to be a vibrant, stylish venue for dishes from all around Italy.
10. The Round Bush
Roundbush Lane, Radlett
At this country-style pub, customers can enjoy classic hearty foods along with carefully crafted beers and fine wine.
11. Blue Check
High Street, Bushey
Another Bushey restaurant is listed in the TripAdvisor list, as it offers a variety of menus to suit every dinner and is a popular spot for live music.
12. Opuz Kitchen
King Street, Watford
Opuz offers a chic interior while customers dine and enjoy the extensive Turkish menu. It is advertised to be “smart enough for city lunches, whilst remaining casual and reasonably-priced”.
13. Bella Rosa
High Street, Bushey
Bushey offers yet another great spot, this time being a much-loved Italian restaurant.
14. The Florist
High Street, Watford
Known for its “Instagrammable” look and floral theme, The Florist is a great venue for a variety of different meals, brunch, cocktails and live music.
15. The Horse & Chains
High Street, Bushey
Based in a 17th century coaching inn, this pub in Bushey is a classic place to go and enjoy traditional meals.
16. Pepe Rosso
High Street, Watford
The Italian restaurant went through a recent refurbishment adding a stylish bar and other eye-catching elements.
Owner Cavit Koyuncu said: "Our ratings on TripAdvisor and sites like that were almost 5*s across the board and now I'm sure we are going to get even better.”
17. Southern Cross
Langley Road, Watford
At this Greene King pub, the flame-grilled menu that offers steaks and burgers has been hyped up by customers.
18. GoKula Vegetarian Café
Market Street
If you would prefer to find an eatery that has a selection of vegetarian friendly foods, this family-run café is among the best place to go according to TripAdvisor.
19. TGI Fridays – Watford Central
High Street, Watford
The American restaurant chain is a convenient place to gather and eat classic American dishes and drink cocktails.
20. The King Stag
Bournehall Road, Bushey
At this gastropub, there are some great dishes to have and a pleasant outdoor area to enjoy the weather.
21. Sushi No Mai
Unit 38, Watford Market
Described as “one of Watford’s best kept foodie secrets”, this part of Watford Market is not one to miss.
A classically trained sushi chef who worked in top London restaurants is now offering sushi in the town at very reasonable prices.
22. BloomsYard Watford.
Upper Mall, atria Watford
The first BloomsYard was founded at atria Watford – known as intu Watford at the time – in September 2020, and has since been growing a following.
23. Bill’s Watford
High Street, Watford
Bill’s is yet another chain that Watford welcomes and is often a convenient spot for a brunch menu.
24. L’arista
High Street, Watford
Established in the town centre over 15 years ago, this yet another Italian restaurant that has become a staple in Watford.
25. Spice Lounge
Market Street, Watford
The Indian restaurant has the tagline “finest Indian Restaurant and Takeaway in Watford”.
26. Rabbani’s Indian
The Parade, Watford
Yet again, there’s another Indian restaurant that is among the places people must eat at in Watford.
It’s a family-run restaurant with over 15 years of experience.
27. Saffron House
Courtlands Drive, Watford
Saffron House says that it has “so many clients” who come to dine at the Indian restaurant after a long day at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden – considering its close location.
28. Codland Fish & Chips
Courtlands Drive, Watford
Also found near Warner Bros Studios, this fish and chips shop is another place among the top 30 restaurants near Watford.
29. Hanako
The Parade, Watford
Located right at the top of The Parade, this Japanese restaurant is one that visitors seem to love.
30. Tikka Nation
Lower Mall, atria Watford
Located in Watford’s shopping centre, this Indian takeaway is the last place to make the top 30 restaurants.
