The team behind a clothing brand inspired by the sights and nostalgic memories of Watford has joined forces with a pub to stage an afternoon of live music and food in support of a good cause.
Sean Tidy and Graeme Collette, the founders of Made in Watford, have teamed up with The Royal Oak pub on Watford Heath to hold the charity event on Saturday to benefit Watford food bank.
The event will run from 2pm to 10pm and will feature acoustic sets from local musicians, while the pub will be selling food from its carpark kitchen.
Sean and Graeme, who went to Watford Grammar School for Boys together and have been friends for more than 30 years, are keeping their fingers crossed the weather is kind for what they hope will be a “fun way to spend the afternoon”.
Speaking about how the idea came about, Sean said: “We’ve got a lot of friends who live in Oxhey, the pub's a lovely place and if it gets busy it fills the green. The dates we discussed coincide with them doing an outdoor eating weekend so it just works hand in hand.
“Graeme, who I run Made in Watford with, DJs at events, parties and weddings, so he’s going to DJ. We also used to put on gigs in Watford for a few years, so we’ve got loads of contacts, and we thought about getting some of those guys in to do acoustic acts and it grew from there.”
Made in Watford has supported Watford food bank since the creation of the brand in 2020, with 10 per cent of their profits donated to the organisation.
Entry to Saturday’s event is free but charity donations are kindly requested.
