The second week of open air performances in Watford’s Cassiobury Park is here and here is a roundup of what is in store over the next nine days.
Watford Palace Theatre collaborated with Watford Borough Council to launch this new open-air venue at the heart of Cassiobury Park from July 23 to August 8.
Performances in its second week will include singer, pianist and songwriter Joe Stilgoe, a theatrical piece called West End in the Park, and F.R.I.E.N.D – a one-person homage to the American sitcom Friends.
For children, there will be a tale of nature and community in Errol’s Garden, The Sooty Show and an adaptation of David Walliam’s book Mr Stink.
Joe Stilgoe will be performing this evening, Friday July 30, at 7pm. The musician has released eight albums, five of which have topped the UK Jazz chart. Tickets cost £22.50.
David Walliam’s Mr Stink is tomorrow, Saturday July 31, at 2pm.
The show is for children and tickets cost £12.50.
At 7pm on Saturday July 31, it will be an evening with Electric Umbrella – a Watford music group made up of people with learning disabilities who have been performing in and around Watford since 2016. Tickets cost £15.
F.R.I.E.N.D (The One with Gunther) is on August 1 at 2.30pm. This is a new show from comic actor Brendan Murphy, who reimagines the sitcom through the eyes of barista Gunther. Tickets cost £15.
At 7pm on August 1 is Bring the Laughter – an evening of comedy acts hosted by radio DJ Tommy Sandhu. Tickets cost £18.
Palace Young Company: Live and On Stage! – a show at 2.30pm and 7pm on August 3 and 4. Tickets cost £10.
At 11am and 2.30pm on August 5 is The Sooty Show for children. Tickets cost £12.50.
On August 5 at 7pm is West End in the Park, which will be an evening of songs from London’s biggest musicals, sung by a host of West End performers. Tickets cost £25.
On August 6 at 7pm is Magical Bones Live and Direct – a show by the Britain’s Got Talent finalist Richard Essien. Tickets cost £15.
Comedy Club 4 Kids is on August 7 at 2.30pm with entertainment for children as young as six. Tickets cost £10.
At 7pm on August 7 is Watford Outdoor Comedy – an evening of stand-up comedy. Tickets cost £12.50.
Lastly, on August 8 at 7pm is a concert by The Staves – an indie folk trio of sisters from Watford touring their new album Good Woman. Tickets cost £25.
The event will run in accordance with the most recent government Covid recommendations, and social distancing measures will be in place, with a capacity of up to 500 people.
