Motorists have expressed relief and hailed the end of “havoc” traffic at a roundabout.
The Courtlands Drive roundabout with Ashfields and Silverdell, in North Watford, has seen heavy congestion since works began on February 11, requiring multi-way signals.
The latest date for works, according to a sign near the roundabout and One Network, was February 19, but it looks like drivers won’t see a repeat of last weekend’s traffic as locals noticed the lights already being taken away yesterday (February 16).
The traffic was “total murder”, according to some of those who drove through it, particularly on the weekend because works by Hertfordshire County Council were going on at the same time.

Then, on Monday (February 13), nearby Goodwood Avenue was closed for a deep clean with a diversion route sending motorists further down Courtlands Drive.
Reaction to the lights being taken away was jubilant, with people commenting “hooray”, “hallelujah”, and “thank god” online.
“About time too as they caused so much havoc,” one person added.
