Lazy drivers have been scolded for "trashing" a village green because they "could not be bothered" to follow a short diversion.
This morning (December 2) Croxley Green Parish Council posted a photo of churned grass next to The Green, which had been closed due to a burst water main.
According to the council, Hertfordshire Constabulary taped off the route drivers were using this morning.
The council said: “Unfortunately not everyone could be bothered to take an extra two minutes out of their day to follow a simple diversion and instead chose to trash our village green.”
It added that drivers continuing to use the grass can be issued with a notice which could lead to vehicles being seized.
Locals in the Facebook comments described the images as “beyond belief” and “shocking”.
