Watford has a new topic of conversation. I’ve heard it, you will too, in supermarket queues, from parents at school drop off, within families and amongst anyone pausing for a chat in town.

No matter how carefully we plan our lives, as the old saying goes, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” A twist of fate can rewrite history in a heartbeat.

Judging by material coming through letterboxes across Watford recently, you will have noticed that there were elections this month. Here in Watford, we were electing councillors, like much of the country, but also a mayor for our town.
