Watford are chasing Everton winger Aaron Lennon and hope to bring the 30-year-old in on loan before the start of the new season.
The England international has been at Goodison Park since 2015 after spending a decade in London with Tottenham Hotspur, but only made six starts for the Toffees last season.
He is viewed as an ideal solution to one of Watford head coach Marco Silva's personnel issues, with the Hornets lacking quality out wide, especially since the loss of Steven Berghuis earlier this week.
Silva is keen to bring Lennon to the club, but he and owner Gino Pozzo would prefer to propose a loan deal for the player, while Everton are currently holding out for a transfer.
The new Hornets boss spoke at his introductory press conference last week about a desire to bring in more English players to the club, with only Troy Deeney and Tom Cleverley enjoying regular first-team action last season.
And 21-time international capped Lennon would need little time to get up-to-speed with his team-mates, having made 327 Premier League appearances since his Leeds debut in 2003.
