Steven Berghuis believes he will return to Watford permanently once his loan with Feyenoord expires at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old’s impressive form with the Eredivisie title candidates has seen him play himself back into the Dutch national set up.
Despite thriving in his homeland, Berghuis expects to be back at Vicarage Road once his season long loan deal expires at the end of the season.
“As it looks now, I’m just back after this season to Watford. The club has bought me from AZ Alkmaar for €6.5m,” he told Dutch paper De Telegraaf.
“But what I should cost Feyernoord now, I do not know, and I am not asking. That is for after the season.”
In 23 league appearances this season, Berghuis has found the net five times to help Feyenoord to a six-point lead at the summit of the Dutch top tier.
His return for the campaign is a marked improvement on the impact he made in his maiden season with Watford, which saw him fail to make a league start.
Berghuis, who signed for the Hornets for £4.6m in 2015, has two years left to run on his current contract, which expires in 2019.
