Watford are in talks to sign Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure before the transfer window closes, the Watford Observer understands.
The Hornets have a long-standing interest in the 23-year-old and came close to bringing the former French Under-21 international to Vicarage Road in the summer.
We were told last week that Watford may go back in for Doucoure even if they signed Mario Suarez.
The arrival of the Spanish international from Fiorentina was confirmed yesterday and the race is now on to try and get a deal for Doucoure completed before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.
Rennes lost 4-0 at Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this afternoon but Doucoure was an unused substitute after not being named in the starting XI.
The midfielder has made a total of 18 appearances in all competitions for his club so far this season, scoring three goals.
