Watford defender Martin Taylor has joined Sheffield Wednesday after the player asked to leave the club, according to the Hornets.
Sheffield Wednesday have been interested in the defender for some time and, despite Taylor playing in all of Watford’s game this season and captaining the side in recent matches, the two clubs have this evening agreed a deal for an undisclosed fee.
Taylor has been one of the Championship’s most consistent defenders since his arrival on a free transfer in January 2010.
The 32-year-old is hugely popular in the dressing room and signed a new one-year contract with the club three months ago.
Watford have since gone through huge change following the Pozzos’ takeover this summer, with the new management team making 16 new signings – five of whom can play in defence.
Taylor made 95 appearances for Watford, scoring ten goals.
