The creators of the 'From the Rookery End' podcast are launching an exciting project ahead of the new season and are calling on Watford fans to get involved.

The unique project, called “Watford in 100 objects”, will run throughout the season and the team are looking for Hornets fans to come forward with their suggestions.

“Watford in 100 objects” aims to gather a list of 100 different objects to provide a different outlook on the history of Watford Football Club.

Each item will provide an evocative memory of an event in the club's history, highlighting the range of varied memories that supporters have collected while supporting the club.

The team hope to remind fellow Hornets of events they may have forgotten, whilst also providing stories which may be new to some.

Podcast co-presenter Mike Parkin explained:"As football fans, the things we treasure most are our memories.

“Players and managers, even stadiums come and go, but we all have our memories and we wanted to come up with something that would allow us to share ours, whilst also hearing what other gems fellow fans can remember.

“As soon as we started discussing the project it became clear how diverse the range of things that individuals remember are.

“It is often something you would never think of that is remembered fondly by the bloke sat next to you, and that diversity is one of the beautiful things about football – the game means so many different things to so many different people.

“We're lucky to support a club like Watford, who considering their size, have achieved a great deal. By pulling together this list of 100 objects, we're hopeful that we can help bring some of that illustrious history to life.

“There will be a mix of serious and slightly more trivial objects, but they will each have their place in Hornets history.”

The Vicarage Road side have many moments to look back on and cherish, including an appearance in the UEFA Cup and FA Cup Final in 1984, plus finishing runners up in the old First Division in 1983.

However, a rather bizarre object starts the list off - a stretcher.

Many Hornets fan will remember defender Piere Issa being dropped from a stretcher in front of a packed Rookery End after suffering an injury in a home game against Birmingham City in 2001. The South African defender was tipped over when one of the medics lost his footing.

Although the incident is more remembered for the dumping of Issa, his replacement was none other than Lloyd Doyley, making his first appearance in a Watford shirt.

Updates to the list will be broadcast in the monthly podcasts, with more regular updates featuring on the 'From the Rookery End' website www.fromtherookeryend.com.

If any supporters would like to put forward a suggestion, then you can e-mail the podcast team at podcast@fromtherookeryend.com.

The pre-season edition of the podcast is out now and features an interview with Doyley as he enters his testimonial year at the club.
