Watford Supporters Trust has expressed their disappointment at Brendan Rodgers’ decision to move and believe his reputation has been “severely damaged” in Hornets fans eyes.
A statement released by the fans' organisation this afternoon said: “The board of the Watford Supporters Trust (WST) were very disappointed to hear the news of Brendan Rodgers’ decision to take the manager’s position at Reading.
“Having recently made statements stating that the speculation linking him with the vacant position at Reading brought his integrity and loyalty into question, his subsequent decision to talk to Reading about their vacancy has severely damaged his reputation in the eyes of Watford fans. However we do thank Brendan for his efforts last season and wish him well for the future.
“We hope that the board of the football club move quickly to appoint a new manager who can then start to plan for what will be a very challenging season.”
