Watford have this afternoon completed the signing of midfielders Don Cowie and Aleksandrs Cauna.
The signature of Cowie on a two-and-a-half year deal was expected but the capture of Latvia international Cauna may come as more of a surprise to fans.
Cowie joins from Inverness Caledonian Thistle for a nominal fee, believed to be around £50,000.
The 25-year-old’s contract at Caley Thistle was set to expire at the end of this season but the Hornets have decided to pay a small fee for the much-sought-after midfielder to capture his services now.
The former Ross County player has scored 12 goals in 56 starts at Inverness.
Cauna is a 21-year-old left winger who joins on loan until the end of the season, when the option will be there to sign him permanently.
Watford manager Brendan Rodgers knows the Latvian after the FC Skonto Riga man went on a trial with Chelsea last season.
