Bryan Cristante is reportedly set to become the subject of a €30 million bidding war involving Watford and a host of top sides.
Italian news outlet Tuttosport claims Watford, Liverpool, Arsenal and West Ham United are all interested in the 23-year-old, who is currently on loan at Atlanta.
Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus are also monitoring his situation and he could well attract a sizable fee in the summer.
The Benfica man is expected to make his loan switch to Atalanta, who have a €4m option to sign him, permanent and the Serie A side could then look to cash in immediately.
With so many sides circling the Italian international, Watford could easily be priced out of a move and the suggested fee would eclipse the £18.5m record figure paid for Andre Gray last summer.
Cristante has enjoyed a fine campaign for Atalanta, scoring 10 goals in 34 outings and earned his first international cap in October.
He has already made an impact against English opposition, scoring the third in a 3-0 defeat of Everton in the Europa League group stages.
His displays have helped Atalanta to 10th in the Serie A table and they are still competing in the Europa League.
