Marco Silva labelled Watford's decision to let Nordin Amrabat leave outside the transfer window as "dangerous" after the head coach revealed he had wanted to keep the Moroccan winger at Vicarage Road.
Silva is clearly irritated by the willingness of the club hierarchy to let the 30-year-old depart on a season-long loan to Leganes, with the British transfer window already closed - and no replacement available.
It left the Portuguese head coach lamenting the issues with the options he has been left with - and questioning the club's business in the final week of the window.
He said: "I expected something different, it’s true, even though we lost one player after August 31, it was not in my plans to lose the player but I can’t control.
"If I didn’t expect to lose Nordin Amrabat, it’s impossible I’ll lose another [Isaac Success] to Turkey or Russia. It’s impossible.
"Richarlison has started very well way, but he’s a boy; Isaac last season didn’t play too much and he needs to understand our football, our philosophy and the competition.
"After that, you have Pereyra but his past injury problems are big; you bring Carrillo in, as well, who hasn’t played too much over the last two seasons - it’s dangerous.
"But it’s our players, our squad and we need to stop talking about this situation and move forward and work with them. I didn’t expect to lose Nordin on the last day."
Silva also suggested he had been less than enamoured with Watford's deadline-day dealings, insisting that it was not possible for a club to do its finest business in the last week of the transfer window.
He added: "I’m clear, last week was not the best for us in the market. It’s different than what we tried to do, but different things happen. What we planned for last week and achieved is different.
"You want the best things, and you can’t achieve that in the last week. That’s not the best thing for me or Watford, but that’s life."
