Mathias Ranegie is free to leave the Hornets this month despite the striker planning to return to the club next week, the Watford Observer understands.
The 31-year-old is currently in his native Sweden after the completion of his 11-month loan spell at Chinese second division side Dalian Aerbin.
Ranegie hasn’t played for Watford since April 2014 and, despite having a year and a half left on his contact, his future lies away from Vicarage Road.
The former Sweden international will leave the Hornets this month if a loan deal or a permanent move can be organised.
But Ranegie is understood to be travelling to England next week to undertake training with the Hornets in an attempt to prove his fitness to any potential suitors.
Ranegie joined the Hornets in January 2014 and made ten appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
