Steve Leo Beleck scored a hat-trick as a Watford XI beat Stevenage 4-3 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
The Hornets named a strong side which included six summer signings and regulars from last season, such as Sean Murray and Carl Dickinson.
Stevenage had former Watford goalkeeper Chris Day in between the sticks but the veteran was unable to save Cristian Battocchio's strike, following build-up play by Dickinson, Alex Geijo and Beleck.
A goal soon after meant it was 2-0 to the Hornets heading into the break. A Murray half-volley was directly goalwards by Beleck.
Goals from a trialist and former Harrow Borough star Robin Shroot levelled the score just after the hour mark.
There were still more goals to come though. Substitute Almen Abdi created Beleck's second as the on-loan striker coolly beat Day.
Stevenage's trialist netted his second to level but Beleck secured his hat-trick and the winner following good work down the left by Anya.
Watford: Bonham; Thompson, Neuton, Dickinson; Bia (Smith HT), Battocchio (Abdi HT), McGinn, (Mensah 60), Murray, Fanchone (Anya HT); Geijo (Buaben HT), Beleck.
