Councillors have approved the purchase of a new £25,000 microphone system for the council chamber at Three Rivers District Council.
The replacement system for Penn Chamber was agreed upon after at Monday night’s executive meeting after councillors grew frustrated of the old system’s reliability problems.
Three companies were invited to demonstrate their systems in the chamber earlier this month before a final decision was made.
Councillors also agreed to the purchase of ‘Swan’ microphones costing an extra £6,000.
The previous system, purchased in 2002, was branded "embarrassingly inadequate" by council Leader Ann Shaw after repeatedly failing at a previous executive meeting last month.
