The early findings of the first national research project into fatigue caused by the inflammatory bowel diseases crohn's and colitis wll be outlined at watford General Hospital's Medical Education Centre at 2pm tomorrow.
The research - the first of it's kind - was funded by a half million pound Big Lottery Fund donation to Crohns and Colitis UK.
Findings will be delivered at the meeting by Wladzia Czuber-Dochan, a Research Fellow at Kings College London, for members of the Hemel Hempstead and Watford District Crohn’s and Colitis Group.
Research so far has shown that 86 per cent of patients with active disease suffer from fatigue and 36-41 per cent of patients still suffer even when in remission.
One sufferer, eddie Glatter, said: "Fatigue has had a big impact on the quality of my life.
"I have to pace myself and find some days I can’t do anything and other times I have to lie down and rest between activities." Anyone interested in finding out more about the research or the chrons and colitis is welcome to attend the meeting.
