A man has spoken of his anger after his £250 bike was stolen from a cark park in Watford.
Civil servant Chris Snow’s black Carerra Subway 2 was chained to a lamppost outside his flat on the Reeds Estate with a deadlock bolt when it was stolen on Thursday, October 6.
Mr Snow, 27, said: “It was a bit gutting because where we live is well off the main road so someone must have specifically walked into our car park.”
The bike, which is distinguishable by the white rims on the tyres, had been a present from Mr Snow’s girlfriend Rebecca Sherriff in July, and was still in a good condition.
The couple decided to buy bikes so they could stop using their car so much at the weekends, and have since ridden at least once a week.
Mr Snow’s bike had been chained up with Miss Sherriff’s bike in the car park, which is in view of the couple’s kitchen window, with a second lock chaining the two bikes together.
Both bikes had been covered with a waterproof sheet.
Mr Snow said: “It was a bit weird because I came home and could only see one set of tyres.”
Miss Sherriff, 26, saw the bikes from the kitchen window on Thursday night, and a neighbour says he saw the cut dead lock on the floor at about 8am Friday morning.
The couple believes that the thief must have been alone and on foot, otherwise both bikes would have been taken as Miss Sherriff’s bike is also worth a lot of money.
