Three Watford fire engines were called to north London in the early hours of this morning, as rioters set a huge warehouse ablaze.
Two crews and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the Sony warehouse in Enfield at about 3.30am.
One crew returned after nearly four hours, the others remain at the scene.
Crews from across the area could be called back to the capital, if the civil unrest continues.
One firefighter said: “There’s five crews from Hertfordshire down there at the moment. Normally the London Fire Brigade has so many appliances that they can cope on their own but they are very stretched at the moment.”
