Members of the Radlett Art Society recently held their 45th annual show in which hundreds of paintings and sculptures were displayed to the public.
About 400 pieces of art, made by the group in different mediums such as watercolours, pastels, pencil, acrylic, glass and clay, were shown last week at The Radlett Centre, in Aldenham Avenue.
On Friday, society chairman Carmen Beal welcomed children from Fair Field Junior School, in Watford Road, to view the work.
She said: “They enjoyed it and hopefully the teachers took something away with them that they can follow up in the classroom. We have good links with the local schools and it is a good chance for them to go to a gallery without having to go into London.
“Our aim is to promote art for the local community and help children with their interests. It is a privilege for us to display our work at The Radlett Centre and our we are very grateful to our patron John Apthorp who helps with the costs.”
Reflecting on the week's show, Mrs Beal said it had been very successful considering the economic climate, with a strong amount of sales and visitors.
The former teacher added: “We had some new members join this year which brought a new excitement to the exhibit – and we are always looking for more.”
The active society, which holds around eight lectures and eight trips a year, gives budding artists the chance to display and sell their work.
