A young Chorleywood singer has been chosen to perform on a CD commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Rebecca Hallam, of Shire Lane, is also currently singing in front of more than 7,000 people on the Voice in a Million album tour, at venues including London's o2 Arena.
The nine-year-old is one of a handful of children chosen to perform solos on the CD, Smile, which will raise money for the The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust and The British Forces Foundation.
Rebecca, a member of the Voice in a Million academy, said: “It is amazing – the best thing you can ask for. When you step on stage on front of so many people it is the best feeling.”
The talented student, from Shire Lane, sings the war time classic We'll Meet Again on the album and opens the tour concerts with a solo performance.
Her mother, Stephanie Hallam, said the performances have led Rebecca to discover a confidence she does not always show.
“To be honest we were terrified when she went up on stage but she had no nerves. She's not usually one to push herself forward for things but when she gets up on stage she comes to life. We are all so proud and really look forward to hearing her on the CD.”
As she prepares for concerts at the Nottingham Trent FM Arena and the Liverpool Echo Arena, with a choir of more than 12,000 children, Rebecca is keen to keep her feet on the ground.
“I would love to be a singer when I am older but realistically it is unlikely. It is so competitive. I'm just happy to be helping a good cause.”
