A motorist who fled the scene of an accident after hitting a cyclist has received a suspended prison sentence.
Vauxhall Corsa driver Andrew Bartlett, 20, of Hamer Close, Bovingdon, collided with a bicycle being ridden by George Cooper in Box Lane at about 11.30pm on Saturday, August 8.
Although Bartlett left the scene, police matched debris left behind to Bartlett's damaged car and he was arrested at his home address three days later.
Bartlett pleaded guilty to failing to stop at the scene of an accident where injury was caused to the 24-year-old cyclist and failing to report an accident last month.
An interim disqualification had been imposed at the last hearing and on Friday Hemel Hempstead magistrates banned Bartlett from driving for nine months.
He received a 16-week prison sentence which was suspended for 18 months.
A contribution to prosecution costs of £85 was ordered to be paid.
