A rare edition of a James Bond novel, donated to a Watford charity shop, is set to go under the hammer to raise money for Oxfam.
Rare books plucked from the bookshelves in Oxfam charity shops across England will be auctioned on Tuesday to raise £40,000 for the charity.
And among the items will be a first edition of Ian Fleming’s Thunderball and a rare book on the History of Java, by Stamford Raffles, both of which were donated in Watford.
Last year and Oxfam auction sold a book featuring the very first appearance in print of Sherlock Holmes sold for £15,500. The book had been found in a shop in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
