- Two fire engines raced to the scene after reports of a blaze on the hard shoulder at 3pm
- An eyewitness said a "man was getting out the van which had just gone up in smoke/flames"
- Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the driver was not hurt and the blaze was out by 3.25pm
- Traffic has now cleared
