Hi everyone, my name’s George and I’m a two-and-a-half-year-old ex-racing greyhound who’s looking for a wonderful home to retire in. My owner brought me to the National Animal Welfare Trust in October when I stopped winning enough races.
I’m a bit of a shy boy who relies on the company of other greyhounds for confidence. I’m currently living with Penny, another greyhound here at the NAWT, and we get on sooo well. When I’m away from Penny I cry quite a lot, so I’d love us to find a home together or with another existing greyhound. I find being on my own too scary.
I can live with older children who’ll respect my space and give me time to get to know them. I can't live with cats though, as I just want to chase them.
Although I’m an ex-racer, don’t worry - I don’t need lots of exercise. Having lived in kennels all our lives, ex-racing greyhounds are just grateful to have a couch to call our own.
As I’m not used to being left on my own in a home environment I’ll need someone who’s around most the time while I settle in then I can learn how to cope with being left on my own. A kind person who could take my friend Penny home too would be the dream.
If you can give me a loving home, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2) to arrange to meet!
