A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place covering Watford again after flooding last week.

According to the Met Office, the town is included in an area across the south of England forecasted to see heavy rain and thunderstorms as they move northeast this morning (June 20).

It predicted that the heavy rain would cause “difficult driving conditions” and potential transport disruptions.

Initially the bad weather was only expected to last until 10am but this was later extended until 10.30am, and the area set to be impacted was expanded eastwards.

The south of England should see 15-25mm of water falling widely, with 20-40mm forecasted in some areas covered by the warning and up to 60mm for a few spots.

Elsewhere, there is also a warning for possible flooding at rivers including the Lower Lee tributaries, especially around north and east London.

On Monday last week (June 12), travel chaos swept across Watford when a thunderstorm and heavy showers took hold.

Watford Junction was shut for about an hour from around 3.17pm, with disruption and cancellations, while several roads had to be closed as Hertfordshire Constabulary issued warnings.
