Two fire crews were scrambled to the M1 after a car burst into flames.
Firefighters rushed to the blaze between junctions 6a and 7 of the motorway around 11.52am on Tuesday after receiving multiple calls from members of the public.
Fire crews from Hemel Hempstead and Garston found one car well alight on the hard shoulder, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said.

A hose reel was used to extinguish the fire, which was out by 12.20pm.
There were no reported injuries.
