  • Three Rivers Police posted on its Facebook page shortly after 1.30pm: "Police and fire are currently at the scene of a suspected gas leak on Oakdale Road, South Oxhey. There are road closures in place on Oakdale Road and Maylands Road."

  • Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue has confirmed it was called at 12.45pm to a fire in a garden, before finding a leaking gas pipe.

  • Some residents were evacuated and the gas supply was switched off.
