Police are investigating reports of an attack on a young boy in a restaurant car park.

The incident reportedly took place shortly after school on Thursday by the Harvester, off the A405 in Garston.

Reports on social media suggest a ten-year-old boy, waiting to be collected by his mother, was approached by four boys.

They are said to have pulled a coat over the lone boy's head, poured water on him, and punched him in the face and stomach.

Police were quickly made aware of the incident.

The boy's school has sent a message out to parents urging them to contact officers if they have any information about the attack.

The message read: "The police would like to hear from any parents/carers or students that witnessed an attack on a young student.

"The attack took place on Thursday April 15 between 3.35pm and 3.40pm.

"If you or your child were travelling on the A405 at this time, you might have witnessed this event, and if you have a dash cam, you might have evidence of the event.

"It involved a primary school student being attacked by four boys. He was punched in the face and had water tipped over him.

"The attackers were all dressed in black, one had a grey hoodie, and two of the boys were on red bikes with a black flame sticker. It is believed the attackers were approximately 14-years-old.
