Campaigners are celebrating after a deterrent sign was installed in a speeding hotspot.
A speed indicator device has been put up in Harefield Road near St Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Rickmansworth.
The device, which flashes up motorists’ speed as they drive past, was installed following a petition by the Three Rivers Green Party and residents in the area.
Green Party campaigner Tom Pashby said: “It’s a great start but more work needs to be done to improve the safety of this busy road.
“Many residents of the Frogmoor area have to cross the Harefield Road every day to reach school, Tesco, the station and town centre.
“At the moment it is a free for all. We need a dedicated crossing to help people cross safely.”
The party has vowed to continue its campaign to introduce safer crossings and revised speed limits.
