Reckless moped and motorbike riders could have their vehicles confiscated and crushed following a crack-down on anti-social behaviour.
Councillors in Three Rivers have teamed up with the police following a discussion over issues surrounding the frustration of those living in Abbots Langley and Leavesden caused by motorcycles.
The council’s antisocial behaviour action group has updated their action plan to deal with the bikes, as the issues with anti-social behaviour with motorcycles have increased recently.
Locations popular with bikers are being considered for CCTV installation by the council.
Hertfordshire Constabulary will continue to issue notices to riders who cause annoyance by revving engines and racing late at night.
Once a notice is issued, if the rider is caught again their bike will be confiscated and crushed.
Police will also increase patrols increase in popular areas for bikers to race and will stop riders and carry out DVLA checks.
Speaking on behalf of Hertfordshire Constabulary, Natalie Dearman said: “It is completely unacceptable that members of the community are left feeling alarmed and distressed by the behaviour of these individuals.
“Anyone who is concerned about nuisance riding in their area can contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
