Singer Natalie Powers has her sights on Eurovision glory after her band Scooch was shortlisted to represent the UK at this year's contest.
After four top 30 hits in 1999 and 2000, the quartet have reformed to bring back traditional Eurovision pop with their song Flying The Flag (For You).
And Natalie, of Kings Langley, hopes their infectious tune will be popular enough to topple their rivals.
She said: "Scooch are like the Bucks Fizz of today. We're very pop orientated and we like to put on a performance.
"I think the first time round we wished our material was a bit cooler but now we're all a bit older we don't care we're doing cheesy pop music. Out of all the contestants, we have got the fun factor."
After their initial flirtation with the charts when they answered an advert in entertainment industry newspaper The Stage, Scooch - Natalie, Russ Spencer, David Ducasse and Caroline Barnes - split to pursue solo projects.
Natalie also had a son, Michael, aged six, who attends Kings Langley Primary School.
Russ is now a presenter on Quiz TV, David runs his own stage school and Caroline is currently starring with Peter Kay in The Producers in Manchester, but the band continue to be popular on the club scene. Natalie still performs in clubs, is a session singer and teaches singing, and all four members were keen to reunite for Eurovision.
On Saturday, March 17, Scooch will compete against ex-East 17 singer Brian Harvey, R&B group Big Brovaz, former lead singer of The Darkness Justin Hawkins, ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon and French songstress Cyndi to represent the UK in Helsinki in May.
Natalie said: "Even when we were together, people said we were perfect for Eurovision. I'd love to be flying the flag for the UK. We've got a very good chance because our song is extremely catchy.
"It's traditional Eurovision. We really wanted to bring it back to how it used to be with Abba and Brotherhood of Man."
After rehearsals this week, Scooch will perform at G-A-Y in London tomorrow (Saturday) before concentrating on next Saturday's live show.
The band has already been backed by Radio One DJ Scott Mills and Natalie said they would love to go all the way.
She said: "If we win, fantastic. If we don't, we'll enjoy the fact we had the opportunity because I think we're really lucky to be involved.
"If we do win next Saturday, I think we've got a really good chance at Eurovision."
Natalie and Scooch will compete to represent the UK at Eurovision on Making Your Mind Up, BBC One, on Saturday, March 17.
