UPDATE: The boat has now been recovered
A narrow boat has flipped and sunk while going through the lock system in Cassiobury Park.
The Grand Union Canal by Iron Bridge Lock has been closed while the boat is recovered - which is expected to take a couple of days.
Initial investigations indicate the accident was due to "boater error".
The owner is making arrangements to have the vessel, currently on its side at the bottom of the lock, craned out.
Sarah Rudy, spokesman for Canal & River Trust, confirmed: "We’ve had a boat sink in the lock alongside Cassiobury Park - thankfully no one was hurt but the lock is now closed so boats won’t be able to pass through until the boat is removed.
"We’re not sure how the accident happened but it was probably due to boater error.
"The boat owner is currently trying to arrange to have the boat removed from the lock but it is likely that they boat may be stuck for a few days before it can be craned out."
