John Lewis Watford celebrated the brand’s 150th birthday with music and cake.
The intu Watford-based department store staged a three-day event over the bank holiday weekend.
The event included a live jazz band, free birthday cupcakes for customers, a host of children's activities, chocolate tastings and supplier demonstrations.
John Lewis has been in Watford since 1940, but until 2001 traded under the name Trewins.
In 1965 a huge expansion doubled the shop size of the popular store, and in 1990 the business moved to a new location in the Harlequin Centre - now intu Watford.
The longest serving staff are Gerald Brewer, who has worked in furnishing textiles for 41 years, and Chris Jefferies, who has served in the fitted kitchens department for 40 years.
Kate Leach, spokesman for the store, said John Lewis Watford has always placed great importance on being part of the local community, donating thousands of pounds each year and working with many local charities, community groups as well as schools and higher education students.
