A major café brand appears set to open in Watford after it submitted a planning application.
A proposal added to the Watford Borough Council last week asks for permission to hang Starbucks signs and logos outside part of the former Chiquito unit in Woodside Leisure Park, off the A405.
It was submitted by Cobra Coffee Ltd, a licensed Starbucks UK franchisee, which operates across the South of England including the Rickmansworth Starbucks location.

Chiquito closed in Watford in 2020, before a planning application to divide the unit into two was submitted in May this year. An unspecified business had apparently indicated it was “keen” to replace Chiquito but, according to the proposal’s planning statement, it felt the full space was too large.
The Starbucks store would take up the smaller part of the unit nearer Hollywood Bowl.
Nando’s had already been confirmed as the business set to open in the former Chiquito branch in 2024, it therefore appears it will take up the larger part.
Cobra Coffee Ltd has been contacted for confirmation.
