Weekend revelries could go on slightly longer after a High Street pub applied for permission to extend its opening hours.
Today (February 24), JD Wetherspoon pub The Moon Under Water asked Watford Borough Council if it can stay open until 12.30am on Sunday nights instead of closing at midnight.
In 2019, the council granted the pub permission to open 30 minutes longer on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Moon Under Water is allowed to open from 7am each day before closing at 1am on Monday to Thursday nights and 1.30am on Friday and Saturday nights.

This would not change under the proposal.
The planning statement confirms that as a “traditional” Wetherspoon pub no music is or will be played at the premises.
- Temporary traffic lights that caused mayhem back after 'emergency permit'
- Tops Royal Cuisine in Watford given 1/5 food hygiene rating
- Criminal investigation underway over North Watford fly-tip
A telephone number will be given to people living nearby to enable complaints, which will apparently lead to “immediate steps” to prevent recurrence.
It also includes a plan for regular meetings with nearby residents over any potential issues.
The application is currently “pending consideration”.
