A man is set to be sentenced after over having a meat cleaver and an axe during two separate incidents in Watford town centre.
Darren Lane, of no fixed address, appeared at St Albans Magistrates' Court yesterday, May 7, where he was found guilty of possessing the meat cleaver in an alley adjacent to Wellstones and Market Street in the early hours of Sunday, March 18.
The 50-year-old previously appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on March 19 where he pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

On Tuesday, Lane was remanded into custody before he is sentenced for several offences at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on May 28, including over a “weapons attack” in Watford town centre on October 28 last year.
Police received reports at 11.57am of a clash outside The Sanctuary, in Exchange Road, and the suspects reportedly walked onto St Mary's Road before attacking a group of people in a vehicle.
Lane pleaded guilty at St Albans Magistrates' Court on November 2 to having an axe in St Mary’s Road and possession of cannabis, but the case was adjourned several times for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Locals who saw the police response described it as "scary" and "incredibly frightening" for families shopping in the area, especially as they did not know why the officers were there.
